Course Objectives
- Understand performance influencing factors in computer systems and networks
- Performance measures
- Bottleneck analysis
- Get hands on experience in techniques for performance modelling and measurement
- Methods
- analytic models, capacity planning life cycle, measurement approaches
- Tools
- modelling tools, simulators, benchmarks, hw/sw monitors
- Apply selected techniques in case studies
Course Organisation
- Course will combine
- lecture part
- practical work in „paper+pencil“ examples elaborated by students during the course in home work
- preparation, presentation and discussion of selected topics
- practical work with tools in teams / hands on experience
- Grading
- Will be based on (1) active participation during the course, (2) performance in exercise, (3) discussion, and (4) hands on experience part
- min 50% of the course units must be attended in order to enable grading
- course will give 1.5 ECTS
