Objectives
Cooperative systems support human and digital agents in the basic cooperative tasks of communication, coordination and collaboration. Students will get a solid knowledge about the state of the art in how to model and implement cooperative systems. The objectives of this course is to give students the knowledge about seminal work in the field of cooperative systems with emphasis on multi-agents systems to enable them to understand the key elements of cooperation, along with the methods for modeling and representing cooperation from various perspectives in order to get a good overview of research developments and trends in the field.

Subject:
In the first part of the lecture, an overview of different types of cooperative systems is given, including an algorithmic, functional and architectural perspective. Next, the theoretical background and main models of communication, coordination and collaboration are presented including a review of current research challenges in the field. The last part of the lecture is dedicated to the application and evaluation of cooperative systems from social choice theories, collective intelligence and collective behaviour perspectives. The course is enriched with selected application scenarios and case studies.

Criteria for evaluation:
written exam at the end of the course (closed book exam)
